Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Time to leave Michigan

Part of the ford layoffs. Ev’s need less workers plus Tesla Rivian competition. Not sure how this ends time to so south away from the auto industry?

To anyone with 5+ years of automotive industry- you have acquired a substantial degree of experience. Don't shortchange the knowledge you have acquired, as the automotive industry is amongst the most complex!!

Consider construction, food industry, paper industry, textile industry, chemical companies, transportation, airlines, package delivery, medical/hospital, etc- all of these industries have a place in the automotive industry, so you have probably touched one of these fields in some way or another.

Michigan government is just like ford management! They are a "family"

Amen to that. I left Ford in 97’. Moved south and never looked back. No regrets. Definitely don’t miss the weather too.

CAT has a 4 year cycle plan. They too have huge job cuts.

I have had engineering colleagues move to Construction equipment (CAT), fire engines, agricultural equipment (Case), and HVAC (Carrier). CAT announced plans to move from Illinois so they will probably be looking to replace engineers unwilling to make the move

I would love to get out of automotive, but it's hard to go against 20 years of background.
