Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

I love it when management plays d-mb over why people are leaving

Let me enlighten you. People are leaving because they're tired of never getting credit for the good work they're doing and always being reprimanded even for the slightest mistakes they make. They are leaving because the management keeps ignoring employee concerns even when it's whole teams that are bringing them up. They are leaving because nobody wants to work for incompetent managers who got where they are through nepotism and cronyism. Things like that are what's making people leave. It's not a mystery.

I didn’t leave because of the brand bully but I certainly didn’t enjoy working with her. She’s toxic. Emblematic of the issues there; keeping low performers and mean spirited people because managers don’t want to lose head count. Ridiculous.

I left after being strung along for over a year, on the elimination of my position, not being able to get 'promoted' into the next level (was told because I was making so much as a tech, they wouldn't raise my salary as an SEM), and no raises at my current level because I was at the top of some inviolate pay range.

That and the fact that most of the other people with practical knowledge were being laid off with no real infrastructure to support the field teams, well... It felt like disaster was impending and I wanted no part of the resulting fails because of underpaid newbie techs out of Mexico and India being forced to try and do things they had absolutely no business doing at their low level of knowledge and experience.

I know after I left there were a 'few' painful disasters and I'm damn glad I was out of the blast radius when they hit.

Someone told me recently that they left mainly because of that toxic woman in brand. The brand bully.

That’s what you get with a diversity hire versus an actual experienced leader. What did they expect?

Well if KCC hasn’t been paying attention she needs to start. There will be many more people leaving from marketing with the horrible leadership that is the new CMO and her friend she hired. They are rude and awful to work for.

I left because the virtue signaling new ELT members knew nothing about our industry or technology and treated existing employees like dirt. They hid all the flaws rather than expose them and try to fix them. The Teradata database is stagnant - just renaming it Vantage and bolting it in AWS and Azure does not count as innovation. HA is clueless but a political animal. NC wants everyone to focus on social issues rather than a coherent strategy. And SM is so weak he has no grip on any of this. Now the new CMO may be the most incompetent of them all. And the Board of Directors is nowhere to be found, just taking their stock and compensation while watching the train wreck.

I left for my health and well being- our CMO kept saying 'nothing to see here' even though departments were filing complaints against our VP and WebOps guy. They kissed bu-t full-time, I'm too old for that, didn't have the energy.

We had one customer migrate a complex system to SF in less than three months.

If the average is more like 6 months, someone can probably build a model that predicts how long it takes before revenue decline proves too much for the fixed cost base.

I left due to compensation being reduced dramatically!

I left Marketing after constantly watching bu-t kissing directors make double what I did when I did their work for them.

Here is my top 5:

1-The wokeness. I was there to do my job (and was very good at it) and was not there to be indoctrinated.
2-Seeing how (scary) fast Micron fully migrated to SF (less than 6 months?).
3-AE's lying to customers about our capabilities in an (unsuccessful) last ditch effort to compete with SF.
4-Working with customers that did not like TD and could not wait to migrate off.
5-Seeing top caliber executives walk only to be replaced by utter incompetence.

Smart people don’t leave for petty and childish reasons, they leave because they know the company won’t make it much further and therefore neither will their career and pay check.

Move on and find something where you don’t need to waste time on detritus or completing basic bi--h tasks for id--ts.

I left over sycophantic self promoting directors and ambiguous and constantly changing project scope because some arrogant VP was in way over their head. Not to mention contempt for anyone with longevity. Shall I continue?

I left over a micromanaging manager, political fighting (turf wars), and general business outlook. I was not able to do my best work here. Glad I found a place where I can!

I left because managers were ignoring senior resources and playing favorites with incompetent nincompoops.
