If more cuts are being planned, I'll gladly volunteer for it. I'm certain I'm not the only one who feels this way, so hopefully, the management will be smart enough to offer voluntary buyouts before any major cuts. Giving people a chance to leave on their own and save other employees' jobs in the process is a win/win in my book.

I agree with everyone that they will not offer you voluntary layoff. They will gas light you and hopefully you'll be driven so crazy that you'll want to quit. It's a test of wills. They seem to get rid of middle-aged people who are far from retirement. They know young people will leave (and they do but they are cheaper than those who've been there a while so they're not always the first target). And they wait for the old to retire. Sure they'll mix in some young and old in a lay off to make sure they don't get sued

They won't do this, they'll probably get an overwhelming response. Yesterday on Ask Me Anything with Mahesh he said they take a hard look at the impact on each team's plans and decide if they're willing to accept the slowdown it would cause. That to me indicates that they want to be targeted by the teams they're impacting and wouldn't want the free-for-all that would result from voluntary buyouts.
