Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Bet union won't call for a strike

They're going to agree with a 3.5% raise 2 yr. contract, new rules, attendance policy and a terrible medical plan. If they strike, contractors like rail link g&w will take the jobs.

Well guess what top tier manager. Telling everyone that goes on strike that there will be absolute mandatory random dr-g testing doesn't sound so random to me. It sounds a bit more targeted if you reread your post. I think you and your superintendent should read the company's harassment rules. You really better know the blue flag rules before you try to ding someone on those. The ones that know the blue flag rules the best are mechanical personnel. You know the ones that use them everyday as part of their job. You're right about the sink or swim idea though. You better know the rules real good before you decide to do targeted strike against the workers. You can and will lose your job just as easily if you aren't careful.

I'm a top tier manager, when you all come back from this strike, better follow all rules. Especially crossings and blue signal. I got a new set of binoculars. I view the yard cameras as well. Random dr-g tests will absolutely be random according to my superintendent. We are going to make sure your job is worth that 4.1% raise. Like I said "if u don't like it, leave." This is a sink or swim situation.

Railroads can’t hire nor retain because of draconian attendance policy’s and working conditions. The PRB recommendation won’t help much as far as retention and hiring. The most important thing, attendance wasn’t even addressed unbelievable.

Some people obviously didn’t read the PEB recommendations.. Yeah let’s strike! I’m sure Congress will give us a better deal, than what’s offers.. Id--ts

I read the enter release from PEB 250 and they changed zero work rules and zero attendance policies!! Said it wasn’t their place. So maybe you should read it not the other guy cause he was correct!!

Well, the PEB DID 'punt' on work rules and attendance, they say negotiate or arbitrate since they said they were not provided with enough info to make a call on those issues...

They didn't even want to raise the meal allowance from $8 and that's not exactly a tough one.

This will not be voted in, we are headed to a strike and the only thing that will stave it off is Congressional intervention and then we'll see if they force the PEB as written or tweak it and add some other language to it like the recently proposed STB bill. Folks figure why not roll the dice, the MOST LIKELY of the worst case scenarios is Congress rubber stamps the PEB so might as well gamble for something a bit better. 8^)

You left out the retroactive raise for 2019, and the 5 $1000 annual bonuses and an extra paid sick day as part of the PEB recommendations. The news rules and attendance policies haven't been announced yet, so I'm not sure where you got that info from. Understand that nothing is set in stone yet. Instead going with a scorched earth view, maybe you should try waiting for the actual agreement to come out. Just a suggestion for you
