Thread regarding Raymond James Financial Inc. layoffs

Can't believe in 1 month it will have been 2 years since 550 people were let go and lives changed forever.

I was one of those that was freed from the ball and chains of RJ IT (think Bella, Vin, Andy). For the 1st 3 months it took a lot for me to decompress and come to grips to what happened. After that I rebounded and found a great IT job in Tampa (I'm sure everyone can guess). I think there are over 100 ex RJ employees here at the moment. I just bumped into a few that I didn't realize were here a month ago. Nobody I talk to is unhappy. Everyone is putting in their fair share of time (not the 50-60 hours RJ expected) and the job gets done. If a team is starting to have a larger than normal load their manager is actually encouraged to hire more. I love seeing the RJ career site constantly having over 500 job openings. People are leaving as fast as they are hiring. The difference is RJ is losing so much institutional knowledge. Some day Paul will face the music as will Bella, Vin and Andy. Yes I was in IT and still am in a very different atmosphere. Thank you Paul.

Very nice post. I agree with everything stated. I was one of those let go and although I didn't get one of those jobs in Tampa I was able to transition to retirement although 2 years earlier than I wanted. It still worked out well for me and my wife. I stay in contact with a few still at RJ and they are miserable just collecting a check and laying low.
