Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Time to take our loses gentlemen

As long as we work for the railroad, 19 yrs. of seniority doesn't hold much these days. I will never have a dayshift or a saturday or sunday off unless I layoff. Time for me to start looking for another line of work. Shouldn't be hard. Tons of jobs out there, just got to do it.

Thank you for letting the rest of know of your personal decisions. You have 19 years in, and you're ready to hang it up because you can't work a dayshift?

Occupational disability at 20 OP. Hang in there my guy. I know guys that left because of stress and common ailments associated with this line of work and those guys seem to be doing ok. My buddy at 40 yrs old has cumulative trauma in his back from yrs of riding the rails and makes as much as a switch man. So get 20 and get out. This line of work breaks your body down badly. Not to mention the mental toll it takes on most people.

Not sure where you work , but it took me alot more than 19 years to hold a dayshift. And it's really not all that everyone thinks it is.
