TD was actually a great workplace in the past. It is not easy to explain how in a relatively short period it became the exact opposite. What do you think are the critical points that brought this company down?

Below the EVP layer are a bunch of incompetent players at the VP level. LM in the APJ region I simply don't don't know how he got to his position. I have to deal with him daily and everytime I keep having to shake my head and wonder at how people like this are where they are
When VL came in and created an anti-remote environment, even though half of the corp was remote (domestic & international), worked hard and were loyal. Then he hired toxic POS into the SD office who also targeted remote employees - basically creating an overall toxic place to work from then on. It didn't help that Directors allowed this behavior to go on- leading to talent heading for the doors because the low pay just wasn't worth it anymore.
It's actually not that hard to explain. It's called corruption from the director level on up to the BOD. They are there to line their own pockets and thus will say/do whatever is needed to maximize their feeding at the trough. That's why they keep doing things that make no sense to you or I from a "make TD great again" perspective - because that is not their perspective.
Absolutely disgraceful behaviours from some management should have been eradicated years ago. If results were met, disgraceful behaviours were tolerated. PLUS the management cartels that protected each other
Actually, SM, VL, and OR are symptoms, not the cause. The seeds of destruction were planted long before, during the MK and previous regimes. Historically, all of senior management were sales people; Teradata is, and always has been, a sales driven culture. All of the executives ascended to their positions because they excelled at sales. None of the executive team had management experience (other than sales management), nor were they strategists or technology visionaries. They relied on a superior technology developed in the 1970's and did not have the vision to drive product innovation and stay current. All successful technologies follow a life-cycle of product introduction, market ascendancy, and eventual decline. Management was blind to this inevitability. They falsely behaved as if the technology would remain dominant forever.
At some point we were informed that the Teradata culture was broken and racist, and that our top priority should be confronting our "unconscious biases". The culture pretty much went downhill from there.

A small group of people decided to make Teradata their personal cash cow, took every opportunity to line their pockets, and made sure they covered for each other.
