From what I can see, the majority of people who were laid off are in their fifties and sixties. Please correct me if I am wrong, but from where I'm sitting, this seems to be true. If that's the case, isn't there a way to sue Canon? Age discrimination is illegal, of that much I'm certain. Is there anything that can be done?

It’s very hard to prove age discrimination unless you have a paper trail of examples where words like age, gender are specifically mentioned. I was let go 3 weeks ago and I’m 52. In my case mgmt manipulated the numbers to make a case for inability to hit quota and schedule 10 meetings a week. It is what it is. I hated that place anyway.
I would imagine when you agree to accept a severance you sign something waving your right to sue.
