I would prefer to find a job while I still have a job, but in any case, I was thinking of leaving this place.
I have been looking for a better offer for some time, as have many of my colleagues, because... who still thinks that things will get better here?
Unfortunately, I don't see a bright future here anymore.
It was sad to see Sun go. I remember using their workstations, and they remain the most rock solid machines I've used. Their tech was the foundations of what we use today. Facebook also made tech that developers around the world use, but would anyone be sad if they went away? This bittersweetness is an indication we'd be better off if Facebook had never existed.

Not True. The last 5-8 years there has been this large push to hire women, trans, non binary conforming, etc. Ex Facebook, Google , etc employee are no more special than anyone else. No guarantee of top talent. Hiring committees put their thumbs on the scale to get mediocre talent in the name of diversity. Look around you? They prance around and rub it in your face, then try to use their big tech company brand to promote their their LGBTQ lifestyle. You know many ex Google employees feel they don't have to interview for their next job? "Well I passed Google interview so...." Nope. Sorry. And did they really pass Google ? or given softball questions? Did the HC push them in ? What did they do at Google or Facebook, etc. ? Its really amazing people jump through hoops to work at these companies so they can put the name on their resume to have an easier time getting the next job. As if these companies are your golden ticket. So.... Not everyone will thrive, I guess you were not here after the bubble burst. Many went home.

Sun used to have good products (both hw and sw) and viable business for decades. Meta does not.

At the end of this tech downturn you won't be employable anymore. After the DOTCOM many didn't get hired again and arrogant yuppies in Google and Facebook were all hired out of uni and helped destroy social dynamics.
By the end of this downturn it will be a whole new generation of startups ready to bring their rath upon the world and many of those arrogant 25 year olds will be well into their 30s struggling to get callbacks for product manager roles.

Time to pull your head out of your a55. We are heading towards a recession, companies have curtailed, frozen and cutting positions. You are not in a strong negotiating position right now. Laws of supply and demand. Meta is a glorified message board, employees here are not anything special. You will quickly learn.
There never was a bright future in exploiting your fellow man. Stop making it like you were helping society or bringing people together. You're not. Meta is a cancer and here comes the chemo
