"It is important to note that COMAC will not seek certification of the C919 by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) or the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)"

It will never be certified to fly in the west.

The COMAC pundits are clueless on how far along they are replacing western avionics and engines with homegrown Chinese. Always amazed how these blow hands under estimate Chinese motivation and capability and then act surprised and frustrated when the Chinese take over another industry.

The first of what will be several new Chinese commercial airplanes. Each certified to the safer m9dern regulations and each will have increased performance that will eventually equal Airbus airplane performance. And they will sell for at least half the cost of Airbus airplanes.

Boeing has already been ousted from the Chinese market so their obsolete and unsafe airplanes are no longer a consideration.

Wonder if Boeing going to keep the completion center and composite center in China open after this. Such a poorly managed company.
