Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Anyone else struggling?

We can't get our goods put away fast enough to keep up with all the trucks and merchandise we're getting slammed with. We've run out of space in the stockrooms, we've run out of fixtures to put on the floor and the biggest problem is lack of people to do all this work. Who's stupid idea was ISM? The sales associates don't want to merchandise! They call out when they're scheduled an early shift, they disappear all day long and don't help to get the goods out. You're spending your entire day babysitting/trying to teach a bunch of people how to put out new goods that could care less about it. They aren't retaining the info and no one can learn to merchandise in one day.
What happened to pride in an area, every floor is a sh-t show, no one cares when they can just leave it for the next person to fix or put away cause they won't be scheduled in that area again for awhile. We're hanging on by strings, everyone is so frustrated with how much work load there is and no merchandise team to do it! You need to bring back a real merchandise team that knows what they're doing, and put in open shifts for sales associates to pick up that actually want to help. Wake up Macy's! Swallow your pride, admit you screwed up and fix it before it's too late!

The holidays are definitely going to be painful. Unless people show up to work and they are being held accountable, this isn’t going to work. It can’t be just a few select number of people carrying the weight the Store. It’s not fair and it’s burning hard working people out.

ISM is set now for future events.. like the lack of any person in the stores.. so with this new PT and Enhanced PT they are planning to railroad out all the old Timers with FT position. 2nd macys doesn't care if the stores are a mess.. its all by design to rid of the stores and knock out anyone left.. wake up

I was wondering if everyone was also running out of fixtures or if it was just my store. That is definitely making things very harder right now. And the heaviest receipts haven’t come in yet! I don’t know what we’re supposed to do with all of this product since we can’t fit in in the stockrooms anymore. And with no fixtures??? Very poor post covid fixture strategy among other things on the part of the company.

What baffles me is that they pulled tons of fixtures off the floor to make space for the OWN YOUR STYLE set-ups which literally hold very little merchandise.

The store was always so packed before, now there is significantly LESS floor space with those stupid OYS outposts. I really don't understand their thinking here.

They will NEVER admit they are wrong. ISM is here to stay. It does what the want more sales people on the floor. I'm really tired of working sh-t schedules I used to be a merchandiser and now when I'm asked to put out stock I just put it where I want to. Those guides are useless because we are out of fixtures because our execs in my store got rid of tons of chrome without thinking about the consequences so that's their problem now I am off the hook just have to worry about credits and bronze. You live by the sword you die by the sword. Im not worrying about Xmas because ill be too busy waiting on customers so its the SM problem now.

Yes to everything you said. It’s soooo exhausting trying to get everything done, continuously falling behind or trying to stay afloat, and it’s not even October yet! Now come Holiday set ups, Black Friday, and Christmas! It’s ridiculous how worn out I am this year! Whoever came up with ISM should be fired along with everyone else who helped pilot this craziness!
