Retirement question: Unused vacation remaining , does employee get paid

For those cut, my understanding is the employee got compensated for unused accrued vacation.
But what about those retiring near end of November, does employee get paid for unused vacation?

Accrued vacation that is unused is considered "earned". The person that said if you quit you don't get paid for it is wrong. This is why the company had you accrued it monthly, (Jan-Oct), because if they just gave it all to you on January 1st. You could quit on Jan. 15th and, as long as you give two weeks notice, get paid for all your vacation. Accrual means the company has a chance of not paying out a lot in vacation back pay.

Earned and unused vacation is paid out.

Purchased vacation? you will need to research that…

Good luck

If your were part of the SIRP, you will get compensated for accrued unused vacation. It seems like most people don’t understand how vacation accrual works, so if you don’t know read up on it. If you leave Ford on your own, like retirement, you don’t get compensated.

So purchased vacation days don't get reimbursed?! How is that legal, they literally charge your for them?? I can see it being prorated if you leave midyear, but if I quit on July 1st and haven't used any, then they better be reimbursing me for half of my purchased vacation days. Or I'll sue.

Yes. The "Leaving Ford" site indicates that unused vacation is paid; however, unused vacation that the employee purchased with their own money may need to be forfeited (see "Leaving Ford" site on myfordbenefits for details).

I got a payment for unused vacation but no idea how they decided on the number of days. I definitely came out ahead. Supposedly they contact your supervisor but mine was let go too.

No. That money goes towards free and fair equality.
