Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Who would like to stay at Broadcom?

And why?

(I don't think there are many like that, but there are certainly some.)

I would. I know the product and the customers. Broadcom seems to be very straight forward. Also, great pay and RSUs. Don't mind staying for the experience. And then I still can decide if I want to go elsewhere. But it's easier to apply from an existing position and have no urgency than have to find something immediately. And who knows, maybe I'll like it.

I would stay. Why is pretty simple they sound like they pay decently, have normal benefits, and give tons of RSU's. I am not looking to become "family" with my peers. I don't like going to company events, it isn't my thing. I don't benefit from office perks or any of that. Pay me and let me leave when my shift is done.

I would. Broadcom is a more serious company, concerned about its own long term health. No more excessive DE&I nonsense, higher pay, more focused work, clearer objectives. Less marketing and more focus on software.

Direction from the top, no guessing about what's a priority, a sense of purpose, fewer mandatory fun social events for the introverts.

MBA fantasy fulfillment opportunity - decisions are based on customer need and cost benefit to company and not just oooh shiny. I mean ohhh shiny is a strategy, but a little balance in the portfolio could be cool too.

Effort to teach partners to drive adoption themselves could accelerate. Broadcom seems to be cool with trusting the channel with transactional business.

Oooh and definitely staying for the product documentation quality.

Sensible comp policies based on deal participation and not based on Jenga skills to overlap the maximum team coverage per square mile and paying everyone, their uncle, and their 3rd cousin by default.

Google docs.
Less travel in general.
More offices, so shorter commute.
Product labs.

Going to miss the great coffee and the base pay being so high. Work itself might be less likely to make me go bald though.

Going to be interesting to see how the reality matches the hype.
