I worked at several companies before I got a job here, but here was definitely the worst. I gave notice. It's hard to imagine that it's possible to have a worse experience than the one here?

South Hills Village is an operational disaster. We haven’t had bags for two weeks. The customers are leaving the store carrying their purchase’s without a bag. How embarrassing. The store leader said it is a glitch with the automatic reorders of bags and it is too expensive to order the bags manually. This problem has been occurring off and on for months. What a joke. Totally embarrassing to work here.
Quit South Hills Village after a week. Couldn’t believe how weak and unethical the management is.
Fortunately my previous employee hired me back.
The worst store of all is 622. Senior mgmt. are liars and back standers .
Tip on how to get a raise.. quit then come back as a new hire
Omg to the person who said they get paid the same as the new hires but with double the work. The new hires get paid more than me at my store and I am doing triple the work. I feel like it’s the same every Macy’s. New hires all they do is ring and if you have worked here a few years, management somehow feels like you should be doing all the work. I don’t know why that is. I could understand if I was getting paid loads more but the new hires are getting hired at a higher rate. It’s ridiculous and this is why Macy’s is the worst company and treat their long time employees like cr-p.
I used to be proud of my store now its a filthy mess. I don't like the brands that we sell and our customers don't either. They are so concerned with all of their politically correct and equity cr-p they don't even see what they are doing to the stores. I am in a small door and it is so depressing I don't want to be here anymore. I get paid what the new hires get paid but do twice the work because they don't do anything but stand behind the register. I DREAD CHRISTMAS. I HATE CHRISTMAS anyway retail has completely ruined that for me its just going to be horrible
At least Walmart pays their employees equitably. When Walmart raised the minimum wage for newly hired employees they at the same time increased all of the tenured employees wages. Tenured employees are making a much better wage than new hires.
If You want to make more money you are much better off working at Walmart instead of Macy’s.
Gannett has turned Macy’s into a low end junk store selling the trashy private labels that nobody wants. He treats hourly employees like garbage.

It used to be a company you were proud to work for.
Over the last five years it has slowly gone downhill since they downsized down to bare bones and got rid of all the talent .

Sorry to break it to you, but Macy's is garbage, it sells garbage and is literally a wannabe Target (just look at those new white fixtures and Own Your Style graphics... who do you think they were inspired by?). Except Target is at least somewhat cool. No one under 40 wants anything to do with Macy's.

Used to be a good company not great by any means. Wow you must be either the CEO or part of the inner circle. The past 6 years in particular have been pretty bad not including the pandemic. Like a lot of companies it depends who you work for and work with that makes a big difference. There are worse experiences but Macys ranks up there

LOL I've worked for Macy's for almost 30 years. Great company. Those who complain are just bad employees who don't want to do anything and have bad attitudes. Walmart is waiting for you!
