Now I just laugh at the false promises that I will be promoted. I've lost all interest in trying to achieve this because there seems to be no way for someone who isn't a brown noser to get a promotion without going to another company. In addition, I'm starting to wonder if those who make it here are in a better position than those who leave and make it in another company?

Qualcomm is the most politically charged technology company I've ever worked for. The right voice in the right ear can bury or catapult your career. Ineptitude abounds when the obedient pets are rewarded.
Well, I imagine the brown nosers have a hard time looking at themselves in the mirror. Once that brown is on their nose, it won't come off. Others see it. Others know it. Is it worth flushing their reputation down the toilet just for a few more dollars when everyone is laughing behind their back and no longer respects them? They should have a little Vision and think ahead.
Those who leave and make it at another company at least do it by negotiating up front for what their skills are worth at the going market rate. Hats off to them!
