We recently had our monthly AP meeting and our AP mentioned that while they were making the external goals, the internal goals were not being met and attempted to blame the leadership team for not bringing up issues or calling for suspicious colleague behavior. I feel this is disingenuous. They seemed to be looking for reasons to fire hard working colleagues. Anyone else have this experience?

Macys needs to go in a different direction badly. Sorry Jeff G is a nice guy after meeting him a few years ago but not a very good leader. Without AP the stores are asking for problems. Focusing on internal theft is one thing but if you’re not stopping the criminals from stealing your business will go downhill quickly. Tired of all the social media nonsense and wokeness we need common sense back.
Macys stores are in a sad state compared to before the pandemic and all the layoffs. Dirty, messy, no coverage, no accountability for new managers, no real training for new hires…..Wonder where the company will be in 3 to 5 years when more veteran associates who carry the load are gone.
All retail AP and Loss Prevention in all companies including Macy's is focused on internal theft and not external theft and shoplifting.
The biggest crook in the company is Jeff Gannett. He had the audacity to claim he didn’t take a salary when COVID started but took a 9 million dollar bonus.
Gannett has chosen to not apprehend and prosecute shoplifters and now everyone knows they that Macy’s is shoplifters paradise. Gannett said he understands why people broke Macy’s windows and ransacked the stores during the riots. Jeff called them protests.
Jeff allows the new hires to be paid more than long term employees because he is a crook.
Change begins at the top of an organization and until that happens Macy’s will continue to erode.
Is there AP in this company 🤔 really!!! I haven't seen an AP regional i 3 yrs in my store i wonder why oh yeah because WE HAVE NO AP!! HUMAN EX------T walks out of our store everyday with handfuls of merchandise and they are worried about someone staying 10 minutes over ge-z!!
Watch the colleagues who work off the clock thinking it's okay since it can be a timesheet correction later. Tip off is when asked to do something, response is "I've clocked out already!" Policy violation that requires due diligence to prove.
Loss Prevention first job is to catch internal theft that's there goal. In the past year or so most colleagues are terminated because of time fraud, taking more than 30 minutes of break. It's stealing time from the company when your on the clock, it's violating a company policy.
It's so awesome the way we have so many scorecards and metrics we are measured on. We used to have someone at the helm who understood how to lead an organization of size, someone who helped keep a tight focus on two or three priorities that large teams could understand and work together towards.
In today's environment, we are trying to focus on everything with less and less people to do the actual work. Nobody should have an annual review that is comprised of so many different metrics. Store sales, omni sales, app ratio, bronze ratio, in-store customer experience, fulfillment customer experience, customer conversion rate, initial fill rate, ready on time, speed to ship, bops fill rate, expense vs. rof, shortage culture, internal shortage cases, external shortage cases, recovery cases, rfid, four different leadership behaviors, and how hourly team members who hate working retail feel about working for the company when they take the survey twice a year, somehow this is part of every managers annual review process at Macy's. At Macy's, the bell curve is every leaders friend, almost no one can excel at everything, so the best leaders have results similar to the average and poor leaders. We are building a culture of mediocrity and it shows in the frustration and of our young and most promising leaders.
That's macys way.... if you worked there long enough you know that AP is only there to fire long term hard working non stealing employees who gave blood sweat and tears to this dinosaur. Macys wants all FT workings gone by 2023 and replaced with PT and the new "Enhanced Pt" so they dodge the ole Benefits and 401k and insurance. AP is a dirty bunch and the head of it is a crook !
