@1bgu+1iH86JO0 everyone is at risk. New starter or not. In fact, if you just started and lived under a rock and had no idea about this then you probably deserve what’s coming. This has been floating around for ages and if someone accepts a job at VMware right now they are either desperate or blind.

But what happens to someone who us just hired. Will he/she be in trouble as well?

For your sanity just assume every department will see layoffs and deal with it accordingly by either sitting back and wait and see what happens (layoff / keep job or compete for old job against old VMware and Bcom staff) or take your destiny into your own hands and look now. Yes sounds harsh but it’s the reality. You can ask as often you want on this forum but reality is no one has an answer until THE day.

I think it depends on your team.
I know some VMC teams are still actively hiring. They have many open reqs.

This makes the pessimistic assumption that your manager is an as----e that doesn’t give a sh-t vs being overloaded with other (possibly acquisition related) meetings. If option 1 applies, then yeh maybe worry, otherwise getting overly worried is premature.

My boss in NSX has started cancelling out 1on1s too often now. I am worried.
