Thread regarding Adidas layoffs

Is the Works Council sleeping?

I find it very sad when comparing the willingness to do something meaningful of the adidas Works Council to other Works Councils in other companies in the region or even Germany. The adidas WoCo seems more focused on playing the company games and securing their pension fund.
Every now and then posting an inflammatory post in yammer, unveiling some "urgent unknown matters" but absolutely no action is taken afterwards, bread and games.

Keeping silent on any real-world issues like percentage of sick people, illegal layoffs, mobbing and so on.
What are they doing? What real actions were taken to protect the employees from abuse? Reading all the threads on this website, one wonders if there is even a Works Council or if it's just hot air and smoke screen.
So dear WoCo, just in case you read this, start by taking some measurable actions, be available for the employees, protect them, as long as there still is something to protect. Who knows for how long....

Not only should the works council publish the numbers of employees being sick - it should be investigated how many employees are being sick for more than six weeks and therefore are being paid by the health insurance aka by the rest of not only the employees @adidas, but everyone in Germany who is paying into the system? Talking about cutting costs…

There was a good idea in the other topic. How about the WoCo to demand adidas to publish data from the health insurance companies regarding the number of work related sick people and then demans action. This would show their commitment to their mission. Other BRs in other companies do that, so this is perfectly possible and actually normal practice.

The Works Council exists to work in the best interest of the company. They don’t really care about the people, and the employees who join the works council do so to further their own careers.
