Do you know if people are receiving any bonus who are leaving on their own? Do you think they changed the bonus structure I think last year because they knew all this well in advance?

Have you suffered head trauma? Why would someone get a bonus when they quit?
Read the bonus policy. In order to receive the annual bonus (not sure about sales commissions):
you must be employed the day your manager enters the bonus into system (a few weeks prior to the payout date)
you must be employed and in good standing (i.e. not on performance plan or disciplinary review) on the date the bonus is paid out.
If you leave even 1 day prior to the bonus payment date (even if you served the full prior fiscal year) you wont get a penny. Dont make assumptions and read the policies which are for everyone to see.
Dell also had annual bonuses. VMware's was deliberately changed under Dell's leadership, just like the fiscal year alignment.
Thanks guys! That was my point that did they change the bonus structure intentionally or was it coincidental.
Bonus and other non-actual-salary items IMO are purely discretionary. You might have a manager who’d push to get you a little something but I would most definitely NOT expect any bonus to be paid out if you leave voluntarily. One could dream, but I’d say it stops there.
Contract says you need to be employed at the time bonus is paid.
If you leave voluntarily, you do not get the corporate bonus that is paid out annually in April. Just like you lose unvested RSUs. You can look up the corporate bonus rules about being employed the day the bonus is paid in Source.
Involuntary layoffs sometimes include prorated bonus, but I don't have any idea what the line is if you're laid off in July vs end of January
Sales commissions follow very different rules. You may need to check with your regional comp expert. Some pay outs would be allowed after quitting for sales commissions.
Must be Stella, makes you angry
Why not if your salary is base+ x% of bonus and we use to get this paid twice a year and then they changed to yearly .Now if someone leaves 2-3 month prior to bonus pay date, he should get pro rated bonus for 9 months? I am asking a simple question if you don’t know sh. T f up.
Why would they receive a bonus for leaving voluntarily?
