We’ve got BUs who are no longer permitting expenses (even for auto travel) for specialists to meet with actual customers, but every VP in the company is being flown to the PA campus for a Betsy / Raghu gush fest.

“ we are particularly happy with the adoption of OKRs to drive transparency and alignment”
The OKRs for our group were obviously thrown together by someone with no understanding of what we do. They were for things that we had no control over or that could not be properly measured. What a joke.

Sounds like we hired Neville Chamberlain! Welcome to “Peace for our time" Hock style.
same thing happened at CA, lots of wasteful travel and expenses so the VP's could position themselves for new jobs... boondoggle trips to Miami Beach for a planned event that we all knew was going to be cancelled...
i've seen it happen elsewhere before... spend til the end.,
Disgusting email. (serious) Soundin' like the last effort to save faces, prevent more departures, have pow wow meetings and say hi to the turtles.... no money though to hire backfills but we can fly everyone to PA w. $800.00 a night hotels
Hock gotta be sitting there counting the days until he can wipe the floor of all the careless spending that burns all of us plebs from doing anything more than being a number in a spreadsheet. So Sad.
Additional information as requested - it’s definitely a ‘we want you to feel great’ event rather than a Broadcom preso opportunity (these are all being done separately):
“ We have spoken many times of the need for us to break down siloes and to work cross-functionally across our business. We have made significant progress and we are particularly happy with the adoption of OKRs to drive transparency and alignment. However, it remains challenging for us to stay connected in this virtual world. While the COVID pandemic is not fully behind us, we believe that now is the right time to bring this group together to connect and chart our course forward for the short and longer terms.
Please join us in Palo Alto for Leadership Week, September 19-22. We will have exciting guest speakers, an opportunity to align on H2 execution and FY24 planning, along with many opportunities to connect as a community of leaders.
The Leadership Week agenda is designed with ample open time during the week. We encourage you to take advantage of this time to schedule your own BU and Org leadership meetings to align on H2 execution plans and FY24 strategy planning. More agenda details will be shared shortly so you can schedule these meetings”.
Here’s the real kicker for us plebs (and indeed for our customers):
“ I understand that we are limiting our T&E for customer or partner related meetings at this time. We will be using Leadership as an exception to that rule.”
Everyone needs to understand Hock and leadership. are planning and preparing for the deal to close as early as November of this year, whether it does or not. Hock is lining up buyers for BU's and products he wants to sell off, so he can close on them immediately after acquisition, again whenever that is. He also wants business plans in place for cuts to BUs he wants to keep, combine, or re-org. He's not sitting around and hoping this thing closes in a year like all "the deluded wishful thinkers" imagine he is. My hope is that as soon as they have these plans finalized, they let everyone know their fate ASAP, and hopefully that's by end of October 2022 at the latest.
VPs are giving prezos to the Tanman. No surprise the directive is to pullback on expenses.
Is there any more info. you can provide on this VP pilgrimage to PA? Any insights on what's going on? Thnx.
Gush fest or face to face delivery of the fate of their BU and employees?
