In my area, it was just the bad engineers that went to management. So in keeping up with the UP tradition, they made the people that couldn't run a train into managers. The question still to this day comes up why everything is falling apart. I guess the upper management somehow thought the bad engineers and college railroaders would make good managers.
ehhh. no more really. Their numbers are pretty flat in my area which is a huge SU and many are considering going back to the seat.
