Thread regarding 2U Inc. layoffs

worked for 2U for just under 3 years... they were on a hiring spree with no end in sight, employing people where they could have improved work and management processes had they listened to people voice their concerns. while work is no rosier in other industries (think I'm more stressed out and busier now than I have ever been), it's absolute bulls*** that they don't inform you beforehand that something like this is coming. they'll talk about "have fun" and that other relationship principle, but they are NO DIFFERENT than any other kind of corporation beholden to shareholders. this is just another startup that promises free coffee without decent pay increases. remember that next time you find yourself having to catchup your work at 11pm because they had meetings meant for "fun and engagement" all day.
