Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

More employees than needed?

I only somewhat agree with someone's statement that Intel has more employees than needed.
I wish the person who wrote this would explain exactly how many employees are needed for proper functioning of this company? Because my team is terribly understaffed and it looks like it will stay that way for a while.

Intel has already reached critical mass on third worlders. The current cliques are enough to cannibalize every last bit of value from Intel before they move on to infect other companies.

I would agree that the place is saturated with Indians on H1Bs but Intel is not even in the top 10 list of employers for H1B visa granted FY 2022. Makes me think that it cannot be the main problem since Amazon had nearly 5000 visas granted for this year and they are still crushing it ! Intel is essentially an US government entity now, just with more Indians on H1Bs. Bureaucratic, inefficient, takes and wastes a bunch of US tax payer money. Check, check, and check.

For the original poster, your group is NOT understaffed. People are either

  1. Working on the wrong things (common with Intel)
  2. Not working very intelligently - no clear plan of what is needed to complete a task so waste lots of time
  3. Not really working (common with Intel).

In Intels digital camera group from way back, we had people that were doing full time side gigs at Intel. Even convinced management to purchase tools they needed for their side gig.

Many of these projects that mgmt claims they are understaffed are either (a) projects that are still in planning stages (with little hope of getting off the ground) or (b) failing projects. Both normally result in net losses for both capital and manpower services. Cut these projects early and place resources on the few money making ones.

I think we are short staffed in LTD . There is always so much work to do that people don’t get time to think truly outside the box.

Intel has well over 20,000 employees more than the post-2016-jobcuts employee count. And since then, Intel has fully or partially sold off a lot of former acquisitions, products, and departments. So why do you need more employees to produce less? Y’all may not have less work because management isn’t identifying and stopping non-critical work. That would mean some (alot?) of them would have to go too.
