Thread regarding 2U Inc. layoffs

VP here (again)

I was told to identify another 20% of candidates for layoffs over the next 6 months. My direct reports will stack & rank their direct reports. I'll do the same with mine direct reports. My boss is doing the same to me, I'm sure. It's not going to be pretty.

Anyone know how true it is for a dept that is told they are done with layoffs? Done for now or do we think it’s for the duration of the restructure?

@crg+1i3EG986 It's actually "Quiet Quitting" and everyone in my department has been doing this for the last several months. This is not the same company I once held my head up high for. I'm just waiting to be let go and get my severance package. The truly valuable assets have left 2U and the ones that remain are, for the most part, just waiting for their package like the rest of us. As soon as you sign off on that package, be sure to not let your insurance lapse - not one day! The day you sign, have a plan!!

How many silent quitters here? If you’re not familiar with the term, it’s when you know you’re on your way out and you perform the bare minimum of what’s expected of your position. If not, why not? What’s in it for YOU to exert your heart and soul into a job that’s silently quitting YOU?

My question is... how is the board holding Chip accountable at this point? Are they requiring a 20% hit to his salary? Multiple stock price tanks, appalling losses to shareholders, multiple layoffs in just a few years, government mistrust, mismanagement, bad press.... not exactly measures of strong leadership IMO.

I'm just telling people what I'm hearing.... at a big risk to my job because I truly think it's the right thing to do. Those at my level aren't happy with Chip's mismanagement either.

why bother taking a 1/2 slice of bread from many teams, just chop 2 or 3 whole loaves (teams) and leave the rest more-or-less with their lunches.

Over the next 6 months??? Many of us would prefer to know not wait in worry, so bad for morale and productivity not that they care about the human factor
