I got an offer recently, I was wondering if it is safe to join fab as a G5 engineer (mainly working in packaging) given the current economic condition? I read CFO mentioning about "restructuring charges". This is the only offer I have currently.

You should worry about taking the offer if you have another offer in hand, just take it and keep searching if you don’t like!
Packaging in FAB?
The fab is like the Army front lines. They will always need warm bodies for the meat grinder.
You'll be fine. "Restructuring", if it does even occur, is extremely unlikely to affect a fresh hire GL5 in packaging.
I work in packaging. They are honoring their offers.
Look at it as an insurance policy - work there for a year or two until the economy works itself out.
Better then a gap on a resume.
you're probably replacing somebody that got a job down the street instead of a promo. just be ready to do that when the time comes.
very unlikely that Intel would rescind the offer. Remember that your cheap and you're young which means you can work a ton of hours compared to older employees who have wives and kids
They won't rescind your offer. Intel discriminates mostly against older folks. You should be good for a while, but this company is toxic and THEY WILL back stab you at the end. Leave after 2 years if you last that long. Keep looking for other jobs.
OP here : @kle+1i0ioyVp
I fear the offer might get rescinded, my start date is 5 weeks from now.
Whatcha gotta lose?
