Just signed an offer to work at Google, working in tech infrastructure. Handed in my two week notice to Meta today. Only about three weeks since my virtual interviews.
I'm beyond relieved to not have to be looking over my shoulder every day for a lay off. Google is far from perfect but the chances of software engineer layoffs are far lower.
First week is in the books. So far, best move I ever made in my career.
I feel like a giant weight has been lifted from me!

This is why meta drags this out. So people like the OP leave first and meta doesn't pay your severance.
You understand that a severance is not a bonus, right? It is a way of saying "hey, we pulled the rug out from under you, here is some money to tide you over during your job hunt." You are then racing to get other employment -- and in a layoff situation, so are many of your former colleagues.
A recession is not the time for severance brinkmanship.

Googoo will be slashing software engineers as well. There are just too many and they are the most expensive headcount. Automation is reducing the need for them.
