Thread regarding VMware layoffs

What will leadership do about it?

My colleague quit yesterday. I’m happy for everyone who manages to get a new job before things get ugly. Quitting will become more frequent, it will be harder to find replacements and I am very interested in how the leadership will react, what will they do about it?

Maybe they will start to recruit the turtles that live on the Palo Alto campus?

Leadership will react by sending stupid emails with increasing frequency about high level employees that are leaving to “reconnect with their family”, describing their new org charts and mission statements until they themselves get kicked out the door with a comp package that would make your eyes water.

The people at VMWare will quickly realize 2/3 of the employees weren't doing work of any value.

They will look at their CiC compensation, and re-realize that they still don't care.

What can they do about it? People will quit and Broadcom wants that / less people to pay severance too. This happens in all acquisitions but more so when Broadcom is the acquirer and it works out great for them. They also want the people that stay to get used to doing more with a whole lot less.

They will ask the ones that are here to hang in there and pick up the extra load.
