Thread regarding Cengage layoffs

Another Cengage Culinary Summer

A lot of us at Cengage are worried about upcoming reorganizations and layoffs but you should realize that you need not worry, you need not fret because this is the perfect time to hone your skills in the Cengage-Kitchen this summer. I know most of you falsely believe summer months are not the months to be preparing hot tasty broths, stews or organic soups, but you've been led astray... Summer is the best time to stir the soup and this year we'll be having a competition for the very best brothy concoction you can muster. (Photos of your accomplishments when your soup has reached completion are encouraged.)
I always like to to start with the best ingredients, the freshest youngest most fit tomatoes, pert and firm, and other ingredients from the garden like creamy potatoes, ripe swollen quivvering squash, delicious eggplant, fresh picked corn with all the silk and ears still left to shuck but really the best soups originate from just enough heat and stirring, you can't go too fast or the process will result in rushed uncooked ingredients, a good soup will leave everything cooked and satisfied, it's a slow process that starts warm and slow and ends with a simmering explosion of taste and texture. Stirring is something that can't be taught it's a skill one is born with and you may need to ask one of your gal pals over to assist, to share her technique, it's always nice to collaborate especially when the end result with a team effort as we all know is so much more scrumptious and steamy. There's nothing better in this entire world than finishing up a nice soup with the kitchen overwhelmed in the aroma from all the ingredients being slow-stirred in a nice Mediterranean cooking vessel round and around being careful not to stir near the rim too often but just tease it now and then to keep it from overcooking until the entire kitchen is filled with steamy fresh goodness. How I love these Cengage summers... Cheers. :)

When I was cleaning up my top ten the other day my wife said she needed some help with her melons for the fruit salad. I spent a lot of time with them, washing them with soap being careful to handle them with just enough tenderness and firmness to be thorough in my task, they were magnificent and when I was finished she started on the egg plant and let me tell you there’s nothing better in this world than tongue licked egg plant especially after a good 15 minutes of lapping with completion after some gentle pressure and rapid st-----g. Nothing better in this world than a summer in the soup kitchen…

Inside sales would be the last place I would cut. Field sales will get gutted.

Gale. A true collection of weirdos. One creepy CEO after the next. The guy in the early 2000’s had a heavy breathing problem. Total whack jobs.

You think people getting excited about "disrupting education" is pathetic? Imagine people getting hyped about reference databases and freaking libraries! Welcome to Gale.

Greetings,

Cengage is a mission based company. The unveiling of Cengage Unlimited sent shockwaves through EdTech community because it gave the student the opportunity to save thousands of dollars by bundling their learning solutions into one convenient and affordable package. Not only did this help bring down the cost of education but it also allowed Cengage to gain market share and reduce operating expenses.

Anyone who thinks Cengage is not committed to reducing costs for students needs to be put into credo camp.

Full Stop!

In 25 years in the business I can honestly say I never heard a manager or executive give 2 craps about students. They spent all their time screaming at reps and product people for more sales.

The biggest slight of hand every is the constant yammering that these companies actually care about students. They don't, and honestly, why should they? At least just be real. Its pathetic.

Kermit will post real soon on Linkedin how he had a week of executives in to address diversity, inclusion, employability, student learning challenges....and talk about his sons who are struggling from Martha Vineyard and challenges this generation has today.

Too bad you weren’t invited to Kermit’s 4th of July party at the Martha’s Vineyard house. Diversity was a hot topic among the masters of the universe. Then they had a good laugh about the employees they’ve laid off so far this year.

This stays up but a legit conversation about the lack of diversity at the company comes down. OK buddy.

My husband helped me butter my biscuits Sunday morning before church and they were scrumptious but I don’t have any pics this time.
