Thread regarding SAP layoffs

Uncertainty makes me anxious

I don’t think I’ve ever, in my many years of work here, been more anxious.

Don't we deserve at least a little more transparency from our management, which, if nothing else, would help reduce some of this anxiety?

Makes a mockery of what partners like PWC are doing well in terms of awarding 9%+ pay awards and exceptional payments to cope with the high cost of living! Guess better to have a job rather than the few get the financial benefits …

We all just need to accept they will happen at some point this year given the circumstances. While we haven’t seen the Q2 results, I would expect some announcements in Q3.

I've been with the company for quite some time... have (knock on wood) survived a number of rounds of layoffs/restructuring. The truth is, they can only be so transparent and, ultimately, there is nothing you can really do about it by worrying about it. Little of it is based on your performance under these circumstances. If you are impacted its because of location strategy, organizational restructuring, change in overall company strategy, etc. All you can do is hope for the best, do your job the best you can, and build a network that is going to either help you find something internally or give you some good references if, heaven forbid, you're impacted. If you feel anxious, its best to look at your own skillset and consider how you can make yourself less dispensable and/or more attractive to other teams internally or to future employers, and focus that anxiety on executing a plan to improve. In just about all of the cases, its not personal and its not about you --- although it IS VERY personal, considering its your living --- but if you are impacted, consider it just bad luck. But, again, don't drive yourself mad... it just isn't worth it. Good luck!

Sounds like SAP could use a labor union.

Stock price is lower now than 5-years ago despite acquisitions and R&D investments. 🤷‍♂️ Significant management changes would already have occurred at other companies. Perhaps this is in the works and why many Q2 AHCs were canceled.
