I don’t think I’ll stay here much longer if I continue to have to do work for two people, just because leadership doesn’t know how to plan well. How many employees do you think this company lacks in order to function optimally?

They are 500 to 700 needed over the next year. The plan was to hire people but that's hard to do when no one wants to work. Everyone in all other industries are working in the same situation you are in so if you plan on getting a job and not having to still deal with a worker shortage, good luck.
