Thread regarding VMware layoffs

I'm worried about the nonstop layoffs in the tech space

Companies big and small - and those in between - are laying off people from all areas of tech. This means that by the time the acquisition goes through and a whole bunch of us are laid off, there'll be no jobs left for us. Or let me rephrase that, most of the good jobs that pay well will be filled. This has been keeping me up at night and this is why I'm considering leaving right now, to stay ahead of it.

There are always jobs out there. There may not be as many or the perfect job that you are looking for, but you will find one. You just have to be disciplined and grind through the search process. I agree it will be tougher given the current economic policies that have been put in place. But recognize those certainly will not change anytime soon so accept the reality that it may just be a bit more challenging to land. In any case, work the process and you will find a good opportunity.

I have 2 interviews lined up next week. The jobs are out there. You just have to be patient. Its easy to forget sometimes that tech jobs are some of the least stable jobs and staying somewhere 5 years or more is highly unusual.

I've come to the realization that tech is overrated AF.

maybe the corrections needs to take place since the Econ is not balanced. How many can actually go build things or Farm ?

Layoffs in tech are constant and will always be…. And guess what? So is hiring. If you have a “decent” skill set, you will never starve. Also, don’t forget how many people VMWare laid off over the last few years and still continued to hire.
