Less Full Time Positions

In my store, several associates have left or moved from full time just hourly positions into hourly plus commission full time positions. When I asked if those full time positions that they left were available, I was told no because they are either gone or are now part time positions.

In my store, you need to work in cosmetics, jewelry or big ticket/furniture to get a full time position. There are still people working full time in sales in other areas, but if they quit, go to part time, get fired, retire, etc. the full time position will not be there anymore for someone else.

To build on what the below poster said, full time is replaced by the variable hours (also called AWH or now enhanced part time). They get 20-28 hours. However, I am told there is no such thing as grandfathering any longer. You may see the original full time schedule option but it's obsolete. Full time is 28-35 in those positions that still have it.

There are no longer “full time” positions. It begun when they introduced the variable positions. It used to be that Captains were guaranteed 40 hours but no longer. I’m a Sales Captain and initial schedule since ISM began I’m scheduled 28-30 hours. Other grandfathered full timers have been scheduled minimum, if that. As I’m understanding correctly the Customer Experience Colleague is only one guaranteed 40.
So just because a full time associate transfers or leaves it doesn’t leave the same position.
