So far, no one has mentioned a single reason why it would be worth staying at Broadcom. Is there any reason why anyone would hope to stay at Broadcom other than perhaps not having the skills to get a better job?

I worked for Broadcom. Left a year ago. Hock is an incredible intelligent CEO but he is rutheless in his decisions. If you want to make money Broadcom is the right place to be. Great compensation, great RSU package, stock price growths nicely, great dividend. But other than that there is no much to expect. If you want to leave take advantage of the severance package, it's not bad either. Honest opinion.
First: you didn’t get an offer yet. At this moment is not your call staying at Broadcom or not.
Second: the reason most of the people I know of work is for the money. I know no one that works for free, there’s always a trade. Bustle now to get a seat on the ship. If you get there it’ll pay off.
If you're a manager who will find it hard to get another role at the same or higher compensation level then it's worth staying.
If you an engineer with real skills then you can leave for a higher salary. Especially, if you've undergone a couple of years of low/no raises.
From what I have read they give out money(RSU's), I like money, I don't care about many other benefits such as the "Halloween Bash" that some others have talked about. So if they pay me well I don't see a reason to leave.
If you are not a top performer then Broadcom is a good place to work
Considerably higher compensation than other offers
To punish yourself for something bad you did earlier in life?
If you are basically unemployable, Broadcom is a good place to work.
The only reason to remain with them is based on compensation. With that said, other companies are also offering decent compensation with less micromanagement and soul sucking. in the last three weeks I talked to a few people that work or worked there, all said, the place is draining and selling out for the money is not worth it, as they will continue to cut and cut and it is only a matter of time before it is your turn at the chopping block.
they appear to be generous with RSUs which is big because their stock price has actually gone up unlike vmw
