Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Does TDC try to enforce non-competes?

As some of the talent is getting picked off by Google, Snowflake, etc, is TDC trying to enforce NCAs anymore? Can they even, given California law?

Has anyone seen TD try to come after regular GTM field resources that go elsewhere? Asking for a friend who was told by SF that they have not seen any issues with TD for the numerous people that have come over. This friend does not live in CA however, but in a state that has enforced non-competes even though they're not looked on favorably. This would be an incredible opportunity, but it's worrying to feel trapped if TD is the only place you've ever worked ever since college.

You should never use Teradata and compete in the same sentence anymore. We can not compete anymore, that is why we are not winning new customers. It's all we can do to hang on to existing customers who are locked in to our database in the short-term

No - it specifically says that if you live in CA this does not apply. Plus no competitor really cares about Teradata anymore so your knowledge is moot. I left Teradata and went to a company Teradata considers a direct competitor and my new company pays no attention to Teradata whatsoever....

Just get a decent employment lawyer that knows your local laws better than the TD HR people and you won’t have any issues.

Non-competes are unenforceable under most circumstances

Are folks just disclosing that to whoever is offering them a position and hoping their new employer will cover any costs associated with it?
