It is much wiser to come to terms with what has happened and try to find another opportunity as soon as possible, than to speculate and have unfounded high hopes.
However, I have two questions:
“ if you want to access…”. Then I don’t want access. Seems like at Broadcom you don’t have a choice.
Intelligent Hub is the issue, not WS1. The email went out from IT on June 16 requiring all "unmanaged devices" (read personal devices) to install Intelligent Hub by July 12 if you want to access certain corporate resources. Intelligent Hub is how they will monitor you.
I work at VMware and do not use WS1, nor do I believe vmware is generating reports about employee whereabouts during working hours for those that do use it. I’m a free range employee and will remain one.
The latter point has been mentioned in a few threads as Broadcom policy, that is no WFH and tracking your location during working hours.

You mean like the zero trust policy with WS1 that can track your moves? VMware is doing the same sh-t
Not sure the future is very bright anyhow. Most are moving to cloud, with paas, saas, iaas... and vmware seems to be more a relic of the past these days. A thing to be migrated from, at best.
And did Broadcom track your every movement via software you had to install on your phone?
I was part of one of Broadcom's acquisitions. Our company had some good products and some not so good products. The good products became part of Broadcom and the not so good products were sold off to poorly run companies for some big bucks. I could have jumped, saw lots of coworkers do that, but I stayed. Since being acquired, I have personally made over $6 million gross.
If the deal falls through we are left working for a management team that wanted to sell us out and take a big payout for themselves all while gaslighting us. They have no game plan. They will just wait for the next takeover. VMware is on the down escalator.
