Thread regarding VMware layoffs

The new VMware / Broadcom Value Statement

We are committed to diminishing the innovation in the products you love, reducing the quality of support you depend on, and raising prices two to three times what you currently pay.

More of: instead of adding silly features, will make sure the product does what you expect and we will work to fix what is broken. Instead of pretending to be listening just because the new broken feature has a pretty cool glowing button.
Support is of quality but won’t do the work you should hire PS to do.

No need to raise price. All they have to do is reduce discount. Some discounts are more than 70%. Doubling product revenue is not as hard as we all thought.... Or they keep the discount but force longer ELA. If you know about BC ELA model do share

If Broadcom is buying you, these are the things you can be certain of

  1. Your management is a bunch of incompetent buffoons.
  2. Your core customer is captive and can't easily switch products
  3. You are undercharging for your products
  4. You are undercharging for your support
  5. You have a lot of people working on speculative products that will never make a dime
  6. Your support staff is way too big (for example Broadcom = 20,000 and has ~60 in HR)
