When did the managers stop managing?

Lately it’s like the managers are just too occupied with their own ambitions and plans for further promotion that they don’t do the very thing that they are paid to do, manage. That behavior was always present to some degree but lately it has become their only focus
They expect everything from the employees but provide no help or protection. The employees are pretty much alone. Will someone ever put a stop to this and will they pay any sort of price for this?

Management is horrible. I have never seen so many people promoted to a management role over a team and business that they know nothing about. My manager couldn't do my job if she had to and doesn't even understand what we do. I have seen this in other areas as well. In over 30 years of working, this is the first time I have ever had a manager who didn't know the job and couldn't step in and help out when needed. She can't even effectively support us because she doesn't understand the job.

It is not clear to me Sawan was for the sale. I suspect this was Ben and Jessica's decision in order to be able to give money back to shareholders to make up for the disastrous decision to cut the dividend (understandable) and not to reinstate it fully when they can (not understandable). Talk about throwing the baby out with the bathwater .....

“Our fundamental view is that the world is desperate for energy at the moment, and what you’re seeing is we’re slowly dismantling the current energy system faster than we’re building the new energy systems,” Mr Sawan said.…who also sold Permian. Clueless from the top down.

Let’s keep it that way. Half of these managers are so new to their roles that they literally don’t know anything. I have no issue with that tho as long as I can do my job and live my life while they do whatever they want. The less the interaction, honestly the better.

Easiest way to dress up your CV. Look for someone at a lower JG level doing something well. Then don the title of MANAGER of what she is doing. Not of her, of that task. She can't just stop performing, you don't have to actually manage, AND you get a gold star on LinkedIn. It's win-win-win! It's not lazy and manipulative! It's not abuse of power! It's the new "working smart"!

Oh, and then claim extra credit for coaching and mentoring her. Now that's win-win-win-win!

(What a fu---d up place this is.)
