Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Progress in so-called "integration"

I suspect there has been meeting or communication on how many people to let go. BC wants to hit the ground running on Day 1. The official AMA slack channel is less than useless as it's misleading employees, giving us the illusion it's BAU.

I can hear the conversation in the meetings now. Broadcom says VMware you guys are so funny. You sell out to EMC, then EMC sells out to Dell then Dell spins out VMware and now you sell out to Broadcom. Executives are making $millions. All the time you are telling your people that they are family and what a great opportunity they have. How can you keep a straight face?

They can legally have meetings, they can’t make employment decisions until the deal closes. So they can “prepare” but can’t “action”.

I thought legally they weren’t allowed to have integration meetings until after the deal closes?

Bcom will quickly tell which Groups they are taking and which they aren't. My guess is they will get conditional offer. Reason is simple. They dont want to loose good people from profitable BU's. Thats what happened during Brocade acquisition.

Others Bcom will sell cheap to others for IP and customers.. Note if you resign, no severance. Also even if you know your group will be laid off and you get a job before the actual layoff, no severance.

Due to the size of the acquisition, the integration discussions and the integration itself will take time and hence the acquisition closing won't occur till about 9-10 months from July 5th - that is April '23.
At that time, 40-45% of VMware employees will be laid off - That is close to 17,000 people. Are you one of those unfortunate ones?

Yes, integration meetings have taken place. I anticipate that by the end of the go shop period or soon thereafter many conclusions would have been made. As VMware employees we wont hear about it, it will still be BAU and the longer the BAU messaging continues, the more worried we should be because it means whatever they have concluded, wont be good for us otherwise they would tell us to eliminate the uncertainty.

It doesnt matter anymore. If you are irreplaceable, you know and if you arent you also know. Im already interviewing for other positions. It is what it is
