I started working here a couple of months ago. Obviously, with everything that is happening I have a substantial amount of fear about what could happen with my job.
I don’t think anybody doubts that there will be major reorgs. Who could be more impacted by them, the older experienced employees or the newbies. Not that I would like for anyone to lose their job, but I hope that I’m at least just a little safer given that I’m new to the company and not sitting high in the payment pyramid.

tell me you dont know how business works without telling me you dont know how business works lol
if bcom is gonna just cut entire BUs it doesnt matter obviously, but if it does come down to it:
- with new salary adjustments youre more expensive than someone in the same role
- your severance is gonna be lower than tenured people
- why would your manager would keep you over someone whos been working with them and they know better
Ofc it could be different at Vmware, but in my office (CA) the new starters were among the first to go across all orgs.
it most certainly isn't based on tenure... they are just going to axe certain projects, if you're in that unit you're gone whether you were here 2 months or 20 years, it doesn't matter, you're history. Essentially luck of the draw.
Don't worry, it will be okay. Betsy Sutter says the takeover is exciting and a huge opportunity. She doesn't say why it's exciting or what the huge opportunity. It's obvious according to Betsy. Broadcom is very interesed in our talent.
"In a recent VMware town hall meeting with employees, the company’s top executives were asked by VMware employees why should they stay with VMware if Broadcom takes it over.
In response to the question, VMware Chief People Officer Betsy Sutter said, “It’s quite exciting that Broadcom wants to create a software division, a software franchise and I think there’s huge opportunities for us there, obviously. The conversations that I’ve had to date with Broadcom, they are very interested in all things employee. They are very interested in our talent.”
I don’t mean to scare you but start looking asap for a new job.
Real facts: tenure means little at Broadcom (positive or negative). They will make a decision based on a variety of facts and tenure won’t be one of them. Let’s say they have a need for two people to be retained and 98 to be let go. The 2 that will be picked will be selected based on location (ie: not WFH) cost, and believed desire to stay with Broadcom (ie: not interested in growing their career). If the only person with knowledge about a certain money making product is a WFH, an exception will be made for that person for a defined period of time.
In other acquisitions, the criteria to retain is really based on what the Broadcom Team feels they need. They won’t need a VP of Sales Ops, but may need the person they processes commissions. If that is 25 people doing that today at VMW, one person will be retained.
Sorry if this confuses you more, intended to be helpful but difficult to explain a process that is not exactly documented or consistent. Tenure is basically irrelevant.
LMFAO.... pls share some of the opi--ds you're on....
You will be cheaper to pay off
ROFLMAO
