Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

If your job can be done from home, it can be certainly done from an offshore location!

Just think about it.

The last comment doesn’t read the news, the president nor American chip manufacturers. TSMC is building a FAB in the USA. So the comment below is simply not true and built in someone’s mind instead of reality

To stay at Q is to waste one's precious time.

Don't waste the only thing you have in life at Q.

I took my own advice. And through that, able to take stock and perspective now looking back at these msg boards.

So, I have shared with you the best advice I have in this moment.

I found that the nonsense all evaporates away from your life. Try it. See what you think when you look at these msg board posts after some distance. You realize you don't want anything to do with the Q culture that you were sucked into. Not a minute more.

Offshoring everything has become a security concern - so this isn’t a realistic statement. First the federal government blocked the sale of Qualcomm and 2nd the US realized that having chips made offshore can disrupt the supply chain… both things will be addressed in the future which will insure everything does not get offshored

Attrition is higher than ever at Q. QIPL fills the holes left. This is the goal.

Offshore v/s onshore.
No company like to operate in offshore and onshore mode. It's all about resources.
Fewer engineers at on shore compare to off shore. Recruiters are facing lot's of competition to higher engineers at onshore v/s very easy to higher engineers at offshore.
It is all about resources. Elemenating San Diego is not possible unless Qualcomm become an Indian company. If that is the case, Qualcomm will face business related challenges from US.
In a way, there is no offshore without onshore.

It is not about people ….it is about work —-> dollar value/expertise …
Socks will always be made in Bangladesh Vietnam
Chips in USA Taiwan
Etc…..that’s why even Apple has opened in asic team in India

Just because you can read and write a language i.e. English doesn’t mean you can be an author like Mark Twain.

There's not any 3 offshore folks that could take the place of one good onshore person. There are some who are better than others, no doubt. But the real doers? They're all onshore and will continue to be.
