Thread regarding General Dynamics Corp. layoffs

If a recession hits, we're going to get hit hard

I believe the whole industry will be hit hard, which will make finding a new job nearly impossible. I have no idea what to do at this point. I like my job and I had no intentions of quitting, but now I'm thinking of leaving before there is a slew of us looking for new jobs at the same time. Leaving the industry might be the best move at this point.

I am thinking to take a job at GDLS in Michigan.
Any info on GDLS? Layoffs, workload, long hours, strict punch in punch out policy etc.

A lot of lemmings and bootlickers at the GD Mission Systems in Ottawa now - years ago it was the respected Computing Devices Company.

The Canadian operation has been in decline for many years, and is dominated by brown-nosers and failures now. Best avoided if there unless nobody else will hire you.

General Dynamics terminated about 159 employees recently at the end of October 2022 as the company’s President saying only under about a hundred due to overhead reductions. I was one of those employees along with others, the ones I know all in their late forties to sixties. Didn’t see it coming because I was busy and working on a contract.
