Thread regarding Microsoft Corp. layoffs

Layoffs coming?

Given that Microsoft have hired aggressively on the east coast(Atlanta) especially, any chance of possible layoffs during the slowdown ahead? Or would it be team based depending on how much the product you're working on generates for the company.

Atlanta will be mostly okay - they just invested a ton of money in this office and are receiving tax benefits for years to come. I'd watch out if I were employed by Microsoft in a high cost labor market;.

  1. there will be a recession very soon
  2. the stock is already down to the point where it hurts
  3. we will cut cost
  4. labor is our biggest cost
  5. so, yeah, layoffs are in works

No one knows. That being said, laying off people only in Atlanta will make MSFT look like absolute garbage in the media. For a company like Microsoft, layoffs are done to appease wall street. Its not like Microsoft was losing money in 2009, its just that revenue declined.
I would expect the same now so mass layoffs have to be done very carefully.
