Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

How are my fellow ENB office workers feeling about spending hundreds a week to drive into the office for no reason? How long can this go on?

The 3 days a week in the office and 2 days a week WFH is all part of a bigger attrition plan.
Right now at Enbridge Gas, an overwhelming majority of employees that are eligible for the FlexWork program took the WFH option. Out of those employees there are a significant number that have developed a newly found sense of entitlement and now think that they are being screwed by being made to come in the other 3 days of the week. You can see the miserable faces when they come in, especially on Mondays LMAO! And for some, their displeasure manifests itself in ways like apathetic attitudes, disruptive behaviour and coworker harassment.
It's no secret that the program is being abused and that there are always excuses not to come in to do a "full" 3 day week at the office. It's also not being dealt with by managers because they too are now addicted to WFH.
Imagine how furious some will be later when Calgary announces the FlexWork program is either cancelled or it has been modified and the WFH option is no longer available. Some of them will be pushed over the edge and will leave or do something that can get and will get them fired; that's the plan.
ALL YOU WFH BOO HOO HOO SPECIALISTS ARE BEING PLAYED

"Environmentally responsible? Forward thinking? Progressive? Walking the walk?"

No resource company has ever been any of these things.

I would LOVE to not require a car. Most people don't enjoy needing to drive everywhere. Our cities have been built from the ground up to require a car to survive, to work, to live comfortably.

When we have an opportunity to reduce cars on the road and let people work comfortably from where they prefer, what does ENB do? Certainly nothing that favors the worker.

Their MO is to provide just enough to their workers that shareholders don't panic about workers jumping ship. Things are changing very quickly and ENB is not positioned well to weather the coming storm.

$10 bucks it is a pickup truck driven from a far-flung suburb. Never actually hauled anything of significance, no RV, washed every second weekend, crawls over speedbumps, parked in an outdoor impark lot downtown. I know a few of these guys but don't have the heart to tell them that it is cheaper renting a U-haul to transport large items or pay for delivery vs. owning a Ram or F150. The comment about transit is a fair one. There is security around at rush hour times. Anything after that it's like the Walking Dead.

Hundreds a week? What are you driving a Koenigsegg?

Who is forcing you to work where you’re working?

Take the train or acquire a more efficient vehicle.

It'll go on for a long, long time. ENB holds all the cards on this one. People can vote with their feet, and some will. But most won't.

Yes it is expensive. Taking vacation days for some of the commute days.

I think you should be able to come into the office every day of the week if you want or work from home every day of the week if you choose. The idea that you have to do one or the other, or any variation in between, is ridiculous.

But to answer your question it can go on forever. AM thinks he’s done you a great favor as it is.
