Thread regarding Scientific Games Corp. layoffs

Hiring Steve Beason back to SG was a mistake

I'm not exactly sure what the logic was in hiring Beason back to SG as the Digital/Sports Betting President. There was a reason he was laid off in the Nov '16 purges: he did next-to-nothing as the CTO/CIO. I worked in IT during the time he was here and his presence/effort was minimal from what I could tell. The only benefit I see is that he won't be bringing any more customers/products in to pile on our already-full workloads.

For that matter, I'm not sure why we'd even want to get deep into Sports Betting/Digital so soon when the reason we favored separated from LnW in the first place was so we could focus more on lottery.

OP is spot-on. I worked in a senior engineering role before SG hired him, and still worked there at the time he was let go. I noticed absolutely zero influence from him when he was part of the org.

I fully agree with you. I do not get this company and what product they focus on. It is confusing to me as a vendor. I also do not get how customer support, purchasing and project management function. These departments are awful a d need overhauled i.e. VPs and Managers replaced.
