If you are just starting your career, it's better to find an opportunity elsewhere where you can stay longer and contribute more to business and grow along with it. If you are in mid-career, you need to set the path for future growth.
The reasons to stay would be:
- Immigration-related (H1-B visa) OR Moving from India to the US on an L1B visa (even if there is no business justification for you to be in the US, only personal favors).
- You are in the late stage of your career and have spent 10+ years and would just want to collect retirement. Continue playing politics and not get any work done which can impact business in any meaningful way.
- You are not good to find oppurtunities elsewhere due to not getting good at your skills while at Citrix.
- You have a pot of gold (PRSUs or another form) to just stay for the close of the deal OR year.
