Thread regarding VMware layoffs

And to think we though we could compete….

Remember when we spent billions on vCHS (the VHS of the cloud 😀), quite possibly one off the worst corporate decisions ever made by VMW mgmt. Embarrassing .

vCHS, Dynamic Ops, and the list could go on forever...all as proof points as to how overrated PG was as some sort of leader. Total bs...

VCHS was all Pat Gelsinger, his worst decision, and he kept investing in it for years.

VMW would have never been able to compete with any public cloud provider, because building one requires an incredible amount of capital investment to build it correctly and capable of being consumed in a subscription format. VMW, run by the Irish Mafia boys in Hopkinton (EMC), benefitted more from fat, five year CAPEX purchases and they were NEVER going to change that…just simply squeeze all the cash VMWare would squirt out while fooling everybody it was “innovative” by buying companies…the same playbook EMC did before Dell conducted a mercy k i l l i n g in 2016 on that circus. Don’t feel bad for the dead spirit of VMW in all of this - it had been dying for years.

We pulled the plug on that as it just started to get traction IMHO.

Worse for me/customer was the purchase of Dynamic Ops and the ki----g of vCD for enterprises - only to be resurrected for SPs and enterprise customers that complained enough 12 months later.
