I started working here only after the last recession ended so for those who have been with this company a little longer, I would like to hear how Juniper managed through 2008?
Everyone is already speculating that rough economic waters will be the cause of many layoffs here, so I'm a little worried.

I was present in Juniper in 2008. That time, there were layoffs but were very mild relative to what was going on in the economy. Bonuses were cut, salaries were frozen, however most folks got to keep their jobs.
Having said that, you need to realize that Juniper was a completely different company in 2008. AA did exist but he wasn't very powerful, so toxicity was limited in engineering. Juniper in 2022 is completely different, with AA at the top. Brutal, toxic AA has spread toxicity in engineering and has completely destroyed culture. Juniper is no longer a top networking vendor in anything, including routing which used to be Juniper's crown jewel.
In any case, this recession is going to be very mild compared to what we saw in 2008. Do not believe fear mongers who claim otherwise. One subtle difference in this recession is that the job market is surprisingly strong, this means consumers are strong and will ensure a soft landing.
Juniper was a completely different company in 2008. How things were handled in the past is not a good reference for the coming downturn. You don't have to start interviewing now just because some speculations. But you should get yourself ready for it.
The October Crisis. That’s my bet.
The yearly targeted layoffs become larger company wide layoffs.
