I've learned something in my many years of working here: don't put a target on your back by doing things so well that your superiors start perceiving you as a threat. Being average pays dividends. It's far from ideal and in a normal company it would be unthinkable, but that's the way things are here. I've seen so many great employees laid off for this exact reason. Learn to work smart instead of hard for your own good.

I’ve seen many of my coworkers coast in their jobs and are still here getting a great salary. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen actual dedication. A shame.
Being average may pay dividends, but being average and an ELT cheerleader pays diamonds.
