Thread regarding Nordstrom layoffs

Loving the new approach

So Anniversary sucked. The buyers suck and now they are threatening sales staff if they don’t produce they will become hourly cashiers. Hello we are smart enough to know corporate doesn’t budget anymore for cashiers so stop threatening us. Start threatening buyers. Have them on a commission structure if they buy sells they get paid well if they don’t they have to go on the sales floor to try to sell the cr-p they buy!

This is hilarious. But so true. As a 20+ year employee I’ve seen it all. It starts at the top and the failure trickles down. Buying team has gone though so many interactions and it’s not the same people of the past. Buyer all got moved to Seattle a few years ago and no longer in regional roles.
These new younger buyer and younger regionals and younger DMs are in their positions not by merit or hard work, they are there through brown nosing and “working on their knees”. It’s all about store politics now, and how far you can go up, or in Nordstrom’s case, “down the pyramid”. I’ve seen dept managers that have been DMs for 3+ years barely know how to ring up a return and their talking about becoming regional in the next 3-5 years. Do you now know why entire regions are getting a shellacking? We have incompetency up top and people that get promoted to regional levels that don’t even know how to remove a sensor. facepalm

Lol. Our inventory looks like a fire sale these days. No rhyme or reason to it

Anniversary always sucks. Come shop at the rack where the good deals at. The AC is cold here.

Hard to sell merchandise in a hot store. Many of the stores on the east coast had the air conditioning break down during the sale and some stores are still hot!
