Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

What happened to the post about the state of the marketing team?

I find it odd and not just a bit concerning that a lengthy, yes, brutally-honest post about JW and the state of marketing simply disappeared after many views and comments.

I'd love to hear from TheLayoff, though I doubt they'd comment.

It does not matter how bad JW is - marketing is the least of Teradata's problems. At best, Marketing can only perfume the pig. And maybe add some lipstick. Everyone in the industry still sees that it is a pig. That's why no new customers are buying it, and existing customers hold their nose when they move their legacy dw apps to AWS running on the same old database.

I understand what @1vou+1hQQawjr is saying but most of the directors and above who have been around a while are dead weight anyway so it won’t be a big loss. The ELT certainly deserves JW.

None of the previous posts insulted anyone personally. I did not see any comments about race, gender, or anything other than how poor a manager JW is. These complaints are about work, period. I agree this site should only be about work. Teradata talks about a positive inclusive culture, bring your whole self to work, etc. then goes and hires someone like this. It's depressing working here and having to deal with the double talk.

It’s not just the new hires that are under qualified—there’s at least one super questionable marketing promotion that makes zero sense.

I think there were some offensive comments aimed towards JW that crossed the line. You can use initials and talk about people and their actions and that is fine but one or two posters crossed the line. Overall things with JW at the helm are awful, I’m sure HR is aware but I don’t feel as if they will do anything. What I don’t understand is why people who worked for her before would ever want to work for her again? In the case of her two high profile hires, they jumped to an elevated title and more $ quickly, and they are also grossly under qualified so it makes sense if they had a VP offer to take it. The truth will be revealed when the future events fail and marketing is footing a huge bill for the failure but I have no doubt that blame will be placed squarely on those that have been with Teradata for years and it will be used as a catalyst to clean house. Make no mistake, JW and her new hires will be throwing people under the bus to save themselves, that is the culture they are bringing.

How many of the derogatory posts about JW are still up? Marketing has both the budget and mission to manipulate public perception.

There is simply too much threads still standing here that don’t paint a good picture about the Teradata that doesn’t add up to that story.

Maybe they can try to pressure the website to take something down, but (obviously) unless they have some legal ground for it, nothing will happen.

My two cents, keep your post kosher and it’ll stick. There are ways of criticizing someone’s work without using insults.

I bet lots of job seekers come here to verify if what they read on the company's career page aligns with reality. In the case of TD there is a huge gap which means HR has a lot of incentive to manipulate the content on this board, Glassdoor, and perhaps a couple other sites.

I could see one comment being deleted yesterday for a violation but not the entire post. Way too fishy. I’m calling BS.

Chill. Write about anything work-related just don’t name names, don’t curse and don’t post derogatory comments aimed at people, only their actions.

This place is not owned by Teradata, and if they had some influence over it they would have shot it down by now. There are probably few hundreds more forum boards here, all of them more frequented than ours. The only posts that get deleted are the ones that violate the law (i.e threats) and the ones that violate the content rules.

Why would a post that called out a poorly performing executive be canceled? It is common knowledge within Teradata Marketing that JW is not professional and she routinely disrespects even her direct reports. This was a huge hiring mistake as were most of the outsiders. One post listed something like 12 of 13 ELT members hired the past 5 years came from the outside. The ELT turnover is excessive and the hires are not getting better. I've worked for JW and M.e. and he was 5X smarter and harder working than she is. This is not personal, just a business observation so no need to cancel this post.

We are censored at Teradata, but we will not be censored here. As the previous poster noted, let's stick to the truth and keep it to the public figures. However, I saw a few HA posts in the product thread deleted too. Net/net, at least they are hearing us, deleting us, yes, but they read the posts. Keep posting people.

I think we all know what's going on here. I can only hope it's costing TD a pretty penny to manipulate the content of this board. Kind of ironic that a data analytics company resorts to faking the data.

As soon as I saw it, I new it would be deleted, that’s why I didn’t engage.
The main two reasons posts get deleted here are

  • PII (names, initials, other elements that can pinpoint to a particular non-public figure for sure),
  • swears and personal insults

While JW is a public person, some people mentioned are not. Also, the post contained some nasty comments about some of them.

Odd, and very disturbing. Isn’t this site supposed to be truthful? Censorship is not cool.
